
The
world production of henna is comparatively much greater than the volume of
international trade. Owing to the progressive increase in the demand for
henna and henna seeds for domestic usage, its production has also seen an
acclerated growth in the past few decades. Henna is traditionaly grown in
many countries and occupies the status of being one of the most significant
crop grown in particularly the Asian and African countries. Some of the major
exporters of henna include:
- India
- Pakistan
- Cote d Ivoire and Angola in Africa
- Carribean countries

A few other small volume exporters include Columbia, Ecuador,
Jamaica, Costa Rica and Gautemala. These major exporters together are said
to have produced about 7000 tonnes of henna annualy. The annual crop yields,
however varies considerably depending on the a number of factors like
climatic conditions, germplasm characteristics, management practices etc.
