Husbandry of Heenna
Husbandry Normally application of farm yard manure is a must so as to ensure that plant growth is healthy and fast with leaves having high levels of tannin. This is primarily because henna plants have high nutrient requirements that need to be adequately fulfilled. In order to maintain the fertility levels of the soil, chemical fertilizers are also employed. There is, however, no specific criteria for the amount of fertilizer to be used on henna crops.

Another important aspect to be taken care of is weeding. It is very necessary as they compete with the plants for minerals, water and light, thereby leading to the reduction of nutrients to be used by henna plants. This eventually leads to the lowering of the crop yield. When production system is a monoculture, then factors like moderate row spacing plays a vital role. The growth of other seasonal crops in between henna yields further helps maintaining the levels of nutrients in the field and also facilitates weeding. The growth of legumenous plants are particularly useful for these processes.
